The
3rd
Annual South
Florida Improv Jam (SFIJ 3)
was held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the
Roxy Performing Arts Center in
Miami, and was hosted by the improv and sketch comedy group
Impromedy.
SFIJ 3 raised over $1000 with proceeds from the event benefiting
The Chris Farley Foundation.
Organized by Ozzie Quintana
and Ray Bode, SFIJ 3 continued the tradition of bringing
together South Florida's Improv Community through collective
performance.
The
3rd South Florida Improv Jam
moved to a pure jam format, in a 2 hour+ show comprised of
five 25-minute, mixed-cast "mini-troupes," performing improv and
sketch comedy showcases, and directed by one member of each
of the troupes involved.
SFIJ 3 featured cast members
and directors from South Florida improv and sketch comedy
troupes
Impromedy,
Joystick, Just The Funny,
Laughing Gas,
and Mod 27.
SFIJ
3 was a smashing success, selling out the roomy
Roxy Performing Arts Center, while keeping audience members
"in stitches" with a unique blend of short form improv, long
form improv, and sketch comedy, with a quick group jam to
boot. |

About
The
South Florida Improv Jam
The
South Florida Improv Jam is an annual improv benefit
performance that
celebrates and promotes
improvisation throughout South Florida. The goal of the event is to
raise money for charity, and to get local improv groups to
get together and work together in an effort to get
local audiences to support theatrical improvisation as an
art form.
The South Florida Improv
Jam is not a competition and is not geared towards the
promotion of any one group, but to all of the improv groups
that participate, and improv as a whole in South Florida.
The South Florida Improv
Jam is used by permission from the Miami based improv
group, Just The Funny to
local improv groups wishing to host the event. The
event is held once a year, with proceeds from the event
going to local and national charities, and for the
maintenance of
improvsouthflorida.com.
